Prisoner of Azkaban
Chapter 8
Flight of the Fat LadyWorst of all was Potions. Snape was in a particularly vindictive mood these days, and no one was in any doubt why. The story of the boggart assuming Snape's shape, and the way that Neville had dressed it in his grandmother's clothes, had traveled through the school like wildfire. Snape didn't seem to find it funny. His eyes flashed menacingly at the very mention of Professor Lupin's name, and he was bullying Neville worse than ever.pg 142The door opened, and in came Snape. He was carrying a goblet, which was smoking faintly, and stopped at the sight of Harry, his black eyes narrowing."Ah, Severus," said Lupin, smiling. "Thanks very much. Could you leave it here on the desk for me?"Snape set down the smoking goblet, his eyes wandering between Harry and Lupin."I was just showing Harry my grindylow," said Lupin pleasantly, pointing at the tank."Fascinating," said Snape, without looking at it. "You should drink that directly, Lupin.""Yes, yes, I will," said Lupin."I made an entire cauldronful," Snape continued. "If you need more.""I should probably take some again tomorrow. Thanks very much, Severus.""Not at all," said Snape, but there was a look in his eye Harry didn’t like. He backed out of the room, unsmiling and watchful.Harry looked curiously at the goblet. Lupin smiled."Professor Snape has very kindly concocted a potion for me," hepg 156said. "I have never been much of a potion-brewer and this one is particularly complex." He picked up the goblet and sniffed it. "Pity sugar makes it useless," he added, taking a sip and shuddering."Why__?" Harry began. Lupin looked at him and answered the unfinished question."I’ve been feeling a bit off-color," he said. "This potion is the only thing that helps. I am very lucky to be working alongside Professor Snape; there aren’t many wizards who are up to making it."Professor Lupin took another sip and Harry had a crazy urge to knock the goblet out of his hands."Professor Snape’s very interested in the Dark Arts," he blurted out."Really?" said Lupin, looking only mildly interested as he took another gulp of potion."Some people reckon__" Harry hesitated, then plunged recklessly on, "some people reckon he’d do anything to get the Defense Against the Dark Arts job."Lupin drained the goblet and pulled a face."Disgusting," he said. "Well, Harry, I’d better get back to work. I’ll see you at the feast later."pg 157They hurried through the portrait hole and into the crowd, still discussing Snape."But if he __ you know" __ Hermione dropped her voice, glancing nervously around __ "if he was trying to __ to poison Lupin __ he wouldn’t have done it in front of Harry.""Yeah, maybe," said Harry as they reached the entrance hall andpg 158crossed the Great Hall.snipHarry moved his eyes along the table, to the place where Snape sat. Was he imagining it, or were Snape’s eyes flickering toward Lupin more often than was natural?pg 159

Chapter 11
The Firebolt"I doubt," said Dumbledore, in a cheerful but slightly raised voice, which put an end to Professor McGonagall and Professor Trelawney’s conversation, "that Professor Lupin is in any immediate danger. Severus, you’ve made the potion for him again?""Yes, Headmaster," said Snape.pg 229

Chapter 19
The Servant of Lord VoldemortSnape was slightly breathless, but his face was full of suppressed triumph. "You’re wondering, perhaps, how I knew you were here?" he said, his eye glittering. "I’ve just been to your office, Lupin. You forgot to take your potion tonight, so I took a gobletful along. And very lucky I did…lucky for me, I mean. Lying on your desk was a certain map. One glance at it told me all I needed to know. I saw you running along this passageway and out of sight.""Severus __" Lupin began, but Snape overrode him.pg 358

Half-Blood PrinceChapter 16A Very Frosty Christmas"I neither like nor dislike Severus," said Lupin. "No, Harry, I am speaking the truth," he added, as Harry pulled a skeptical expression. "We shall never be bosom friends, perhaps; after all that happened between James and Sirius and Severus, there is too much bitterness there. But I do not forget that during the year I taught atpg 332Hogwarts, Severus made the Wolfsbane Potion for me every month, made it perfectly, so that I did not have to suffer as I usually do at the full moon.""But he 'accidentally' let it slip that you're a werewolf, so you had to leave!" said Harry angrily.Lupin shrugged. "The news would have leaked out anyway. We both know he wanted my job, but he could have wreaked much worse damage on me by tampering with the potion. He kept me healthy. I must be grateful.""Maybe he didn't dare mess with the potion with Dumbledore watching him!" said Harry."You are determined to hate him, Harry," said Lupin with a faint smile. "And I understand; with James as your father, with Sirius as your godfather, you have inherited an old prejudice. By all means tell Dumbledore what you have told Arthur and me, but do not expect him to share your view of the matter; do not even expect him to be surprised by what you tell him. It might have been on Dumbledore's orders that Severus questioned Draco."...and now you've torn it quite apartI'll thank you to give back my heart!pg 333
